Picky Picks for Week 4

Very nice Week 3 for the kid: 10-5-1 is more than serviceable.  Now comes a tricky Week 4.. Tricky because we begin to see if the fast starters are really that good and can the winless teams continue to be easy pickings.  Here’s Week 4 for ya.. Enjoy:

Panthers at Bears ( Carolina +6.5 )

Cam Newton should have a field day against the Bears defense.  Pretty simple really.. Cam Newton throws a lot of yards.. the Bears give up 277 yards per game passing.  I think Jay Cutler will have more time to throw the ball and the over 43 looks promising too.  Bottom line.. I like Carolina to win the game straight out..

Redskins at Rams ( Washington -3.5)

Talk about the lesser off two evils. Ugh.  The Rams are trying to get off the floor at 0-3.  Steven Jackson says he’ll play despite nursing a bad quad. Bottom line is are the Redskins three points better than St. Louis.. YES.  They should be 3-0 and the Rams are giving up nearly 441 yards of offense, worst in the NFC.

49ers at Eagles (Philadelphia -9.5)

Eagles have an Andy Reid sized chip on their shoulders.  I think Michael Vick calling out the referees will actually help Philly on Sunday.  Love my boy Jim Harbaugh but the Eagles are that good and expect their defense to lock down the SF offense.

Vikings at Chiefs (Minnesota -3)

0-3 versus 0-3.  The Vikings may be the “best” winless team out there.. You know their story… they have blown double-digit halftime leads three straight weeks.  Adrian Peterson should run up and down the Arrowhead Stadium.  Chiefs just don’t have the horses on defense and certainly not on offense to erase a defecit.  Keyshawn Johnson called out Matt Cassel last week saying KC can’t win with Cassel under center.. So far,  Key is right.

Saints at Jaguars    (New Orleans  -7)

Weather should be clear in Jacksonville so over 45 is possible.  New Orleans is averaging nearly 35 points a game through the first three weeks and they get receiver Marques Colston back from injury.  The number scares me a bit because Saints will have to score most of the points to ht the over. Saints though are easily a touchdown better.

Steelers at Texans ( Houston -3.5)

Yes, Pittsburgh has been up and down this season but I like Houston at home. This is a huge statement game for the Texans especially after blowing a lead late last week in New Orleans.  Real interested to see if Houston commits to the run.  Arian Foster is going to play but dealing with a hammy.  Ben Tate is dealing with back and hip issues.  The key will be the Texans defense against the Steelers patch work offensive line.. I like that match up for Houston.

Lions at Cowboys (Over 46)

Little scary when a team can win a game without scoring a touchdown.  But to their credit, the Cowboys pulled it off.  I think the Dallas’ offense will be better this week (couldn’t be worse). Meanwhile the Lions offense is good…REAL good.  There will be points in BIG D.  We know the Lions are good for it.. are the Cowboys?

Bills at Bengals (Buffalo -3)

Bills should have their way with the Bengals.  Cincy just can’t score. They average just 19 points a game.  Will Marvin Lewis let Andy Dalton air it out?  He might have to with the way the Ryan Fitzpatrick aka Amish Rifle slings that ball down the field.  Bills win big.. they’re going to 4-0.

Titans at Browns (Pick ’em)

Pick ’em?  Matt Hasselbeck’s primary receiver, Kenny Britt is out of the season.  Take the Brown.  Peyton Hillis returns after dealing with steep and the flu.. He;s motivated because of all the grief he took for sitting out last week.  Browns win this one going away

 Falcons at Seahawks (Over 38)

This one is a no brainer. Seattle is tough at home as last week’s win against the Cardinals showed.  Always hesitant to pick against the Hawks at home and with Atlanta flying all the way across country.. it tells me the game will be close. The makes the number attractive and  very reachable even with Seattle’s anemic offense.  Hey,  they are due.. right?

Giants at Cardinals ( Over 44.5)

New York is still recovering from injuries ont he defensive side of the ball.  Osi Umenyiora says he is ready to play.  Justin Tuck may not be.  They teams will limp over the finish line but I like the over.  Cards win too..

Broncos at Packers ( Green Bay -12)

No contest here.  12 is daunting but the Packers carry a big stick. crank up the Tim Tebow should play conversation again… long day for Kyle Orton and Denver

Dolphins at Chargers (Miami +7)

Bottom line is San Diego is a mess in terms of injuries. Antonio Gates won’t play.  Malcolm Floyd hasn’t practiced all week.  They’ll play, but Vincent Jackson is hurt and so is Ryan Mathews.  That keeps Miami in the game.   Wouldnt surprise me if Miami wins..

Patriots at Raiders (New England -4.5)

This is the easiest game of the week.  New England coming off a loss in Buffalo.. the Pats defense a laughing-stock..  Bill Belichick isn’t going to have any of this… Pats roll 50 plus on the Raiders… 50 PLUS!!!! They crush Oakland and will swagger back east..

Jets at Ravens (Baltimore -3.5)

This game will be a blood bath.  Lots of defense and bone crushing hits.  New York’s defense is hurt and Mark Sanchez will make a mistake.   A late pick for a TD decides this one.. should be fun.

Colts at Buccaneers ( Tampa Bay -10)

Curtis Painter will start for the Colts at quarterback..  Nuff said
